Web standards

Catch Design is committed to user-focussed web design concepts. We believe that all web design should be progressive, accessible and most importantly, coherent.

What the heck does that all mean?

Catch ensures that all our websites meet the accessibility needs of its users and general audience. Our sites are adaptable, designed for multiple web browsers and consider the needs of all users with and without impairments, circumstances or browser technology, from the beginning and throughout the design process.

By using a core set of standards, commonly known as “web standards”, and by choosing to keep accessibility in mind while designing sites, we can increase usability and therefore the potential audience that can access the sites content.

Why Web Standards?

Designing websites to these standards brings benefits to our clients such as:

  • Faster loading pages
  • Reduced bandwidth (hosting) costs
  • Pages that are optimised better for search engines
  • Sites that are easier to update
  • A consistent look across all modern browsers
  • Increased accessibility for disabled users

Other Benefits

Accessibility is not just about ensuring your content is available for disabled users.

Remember that the robots that search engines send around the Internet indexing pages are also blind. To aid them read your content more easily, we use structured, descriptive and meaningful code.

Our accessibility techniques also ensure users choosing to use other devices, such as PDAs or mobile phones, to access your content have a just as good and usable experience as those opting for the more conventional desktop PC.

"University Sport NZ contracted Catch Design in October 2004 to come up with a new dynamic website for our organisation. We have been delighted with the final product but also the ease with which we have been able to work with the company to overcome any design issues. The new website was launched to schedule at the beginning of February 2005. In a similar circumstance I would be very happy to work with Catch Design again."
