When we think of you, we think this: You love the web, and everything ‘online’. You’re the kind of person who makes lists of the lists you need to make, ie you’re super organised. You’re a naturally born communicator who loves client interaction; detail is your middle name.

You will be versatile, a team player, and you can handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ideally, you’ll have a sense of humour and be able to hit the ground running.

Your responsibilities:

Interface with assigned accounts daily to provide solutions, manage expectations, and then ensure that these expectations are exceeded – you are responsible for these clients;

Identify and manage future opportunities, internal resources, deliverables, timelines, budgets and scope;

Identify and grasp the business challenges faced by our clients, understanding user pain points and potential solutions;

Create inspiring, relevant creative briefs and translate insight into ideas and subsequent management of ideas;

You’re the glue that keeps the on-going collaboration between the internal team and the client vibrant, creative and effective.

Our requirements:

2 – 4 years overall experience in client relationship/management;

A solid understanding of the digital world, preferably with hands-on experience in either design or development in the past;

Proven experience in project management, meeting deadlines and budgets;

Proven ability to communicate and present technical and creative concepts to a client;

Has attention to detail that borders on the obsessive;

Knows their way around wireframes and site-maps;

You have personality and poise with clients, particularly when time pressures and client feedback are overwhelmingly intense;

Has a sense of humor and works well under pressure;

Familiarity with web standards;

An obsessive compulsion when it comes to organisation, scheduling, time management and improving workflow efficiency.

You have proven effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of people;

Must be self-motivated, and able to multi-task;

Must have the ability to see projects through from start to finish;

Must be able to take initiative to be productive and efficient;

Must be able to function independently and still work well in a “team oriented” environment.

Job Perks

Cool Cuba Street office with a toilet and staircase, we’re all secretly in a rock band, there’s no dress code, we’re vegetarian friendly, collaborative environment, performance perks, employee development, free food, iPhone, performance reviews, and lots more!

If this sounds like you, please submit your COVER LETTER, RESUME, and ONLINE PORTFOLIO demonstrating your experience by emailing us.

Howdy all. Team Catch has been busy flippin’ the switch on a bunch of new projects we’ve kicked into life. As such, we’ve been a little busy so sorry no updates of late. But, fear no more, here’s a big one!

Scopa Caffe Cucina and Duke Carvells. Scopa, great traditional pizza, legend Italian hot chocolate – cornerstone of a vibrant Cuba St community. Brothers Leonardo and Lorenzo Bresolin arrived on site May 2006 and together with their father, Remiro, raised Scopa to become a favourite with Wellingtonians and visitors alike. And Duke Carvells, the boutique tappers bar in Swan Lane, Wellington, was opened in late 2008. After the success of Scopa, the Bresolin boys struck gold in a 2911 brick building, deep in the Cuba Quarter. Cuisine says “Duke Carvell’s has the air of a shabby, slightly suspect, gentlemen’s club…” The boys at Catch were asked to design and build two sites that caught the vibrancy and colourful atmosphere that’s made Scopa and ‘Dukes’ two of Wellington’s most popular restaurants! Watch this space for more to come…

Salient. Nominated for a 2009 Qantas Media Award, the Salient website is the online companion to the weekly magazine of the Victoria University of Wellington Students’ Association. This recent release being the third in a long-standing relationship between Catch and Salient. The best yet… we think.

Beacon Pathway Ltd. a collaborative research consortium working to find affordable ways to make New Zealand homes more resource-efficient, cheaper to run, healthier to live in – and kinder to our environment. With design from DNA, Beacon was a complex challenge with multiple layers of content, permission levels and general IA challenges. Catch Design was contracted to build the back-end, which included all xHTML/CSS templates and development using Expression Engine.

Tax Management New Zealand. As the innovators of tax pooling in New Zealand, Tax Management New Zealand make provisional tax payments easier for New Zealand businesses. Their old website was drastically out-of-date and in need of an overhaul. Catch Design was approached to re-design their public-facing website in August 2008, as well as their entire application for accountants and businesses. With a desire to further enhance their Google rankings and public face, TMNZ asked Catch Design to again re-think the site structure and design.

Hurricanes. The Official Website of the 2009 Rebel Sport Super 14 Hurricanes, Team Catch pulled out a lot of late nights and early mornings to overhaul, design and build the new Hurricanes site in a matter of weeks.

And a few others that went live in 2009:

Creative Peoples Centre

All Saints Church

Motu

It Rockstar (CSS/HTML and Development only)

Call me overly optimistic, somewhat cavalier… or perhaps plainly unrealistic. But today marks a new era in the Catch Design website. We are now going to attempt to update your Catch rss feed on a semi-daily basis.

Our record to-date is nothing more than comical – our news has pretty much consisted of irregular industry news, a six-monthly update on our portfolio changes and the odd ramble on nothing in particular. I’m not saying the content is going to change, but perhaps you’ll receive aforementioned articles on a more regular basis. So there…!

On a separate note, over the past few months, we’ve welcomed a bunch of new Catchers! Kent Humphrey (Senior Online Developer), Nick de Jardine (Senior Designer) and Marcus Brown (Designer) to name a few.

We have, as it turns out, updated our portfolio and will, over the next few days (most likely weeks though… let’s be honest), add more and more and more…

That’s about it for now.

I’ve been here since Thursday… came up for the U2 concert on Friday night (check out photos and videos here and here… when I get some time in my life, I’ll post some too… maybe). Spent the day on Friday working, drinking coffee (flat white from Auckland = hideous), hanging with some friends and getting prepared for the big night. Sure it was sunny, most days it’s sunny in Auckland… but they forget to tell you that most days it rains as well!

Now, I don’t mean to be rude about Auckland, but I can’t work this place out. Maybe it’s just me and sure, maybe I’m a small town bloke, but I can’t get my head around why people get so upset about Wellington and it’s wind! At least when you wake up in the morning, you know what the weather is gonna do! If it’s raining, in general, it stays raining! If it’s windy, it stays windy. In Auckland, you never know what’s going to be thrown at you!

So far today, it’s rained, I got a little tanning at lunch, then couldn’t stand up straight walking back to my car as the gale-force winds blew their way down Queen Street. Work that out… and stop telling me Wellington weather is bad… at least it’s consistent.

I am enjoying the visit here. Working with some great people, hanging with my five-month-old nephew (we seem to be getting along fine) and catching the odd movie here and there. May check out the Golf Open this weekend… we’ll see.

And finally, today…

Ze Frank gives us a history lesson on scrabble…

Terry Hatcher got upset about some shoes…

It looks like we’re all gonna be footing the bill for yet another massive misappropriation of funds in Auckland… is it just me, or am I the only one who struggles to comprehend spending $225mil on a dilapidated stadium when things like this are going on in our world…

A snow leopard got fitted with GPS… what took them so long?

That’s about it. Catch has a lot of work on right now and look forward to a break over Christmas. Btw, U2 was great. I got rained on… a lot… but loved every part of their set. Errr, except the blonde chick who got up on stage with Bono… what the?!

Over and out.

-Hamish

The kids at Catch have truly been working though. However, it’s been one of those periods where there’s been a lot of “work in progress”. We’ve had contracts with VTNZ, Basketball New Zealand (including Tall Blacks, Tall Ferns and NBL), Boomrock, Social Justice Commission of NZ, Mobar, BIZ Essentials and On Road, things are totally hectic… but exciting. Oh, we did launch two sites in late July we forgot to tell you all about — Eden Ripley and Photo-Block.com have been two very long projects for us, however with a little bit of power from Instinct, we’re really excited about what’s been achieved. Susie Ripley is a sensational photographer and we wish her all the best with her business.

We’ve got some really exciting site launches coming up so keep your eyes tuned to this channel.

So last night I was coaxed along to see the remake of the classic disaster film The Poseidon Adventure, based on Paul Gallico’s novel. My girfriend, Hannah, decided it would be an excellent option… she had visions of Leonardo clinging to the rails of the sinking Titanic, as a story of romance, courage and bravery unfolded on the big screen.

I must say, her optimism did make me smile. As a kid, I remember fondly watching the 1972 version on our black and white tv at home. The story is all about the capsizing of a luxurious ocean liner by a “rogue” tidal wave and the desperate struggles of a handful of survivors to reach the ‘top’ (originally the bottom of the hull) of the liner before it sinks. The only real similarities between Titanic (again, a remake of an original) and Poseidon are, they both involve large cruiseliners and they both sink. That’s it!

Hannah was a little disappointed in the lack of romance and somewhat blatant disregard for killing off nice characters… like the Elena (Mía Maestro), the stowaway from Eurpoe. I must say, watching Richard Dreyfuss play Richard Nelson, the bisexual architect was a little icky! Dylan Johns (Josh Lucas) did receive plenty of positive comments however.

All in all, it was not a bad remake of an excellent original flick. Check the Apple site for some cool trailers.

Other highlights included Hannah urging me to rush my Butter Chicken down so we could race upstairs and get a good seat. We arrived ten minutes early and witnessed this:

I have to say, this is the first time I’ve been to the movies where I got there before the projector man!

After forcing my curry down in record-breaking time, I needed a drink. Hann bought me a jumbo lemonade… again a first for me. I never knew they made them that large! The actual cup was larger than my head and if I were to have consumed the entire liquid contents, I’m sure my bladder would have burst open!

A fun night and a movie well-worth seeing on the big screen. Here’s some numbers to consider:

2130 – time the movie screened last night

28 – amount in dollars it cost for two tickets….sheesh!

17 – amount of people in the theatre watching. So glad we got there early!

0 – amount of romantic love scenes

100 – percentage of females who went last night thinking it would be a Titanic remake with romantic love scenes throughout!

Here’s Hannah giving you a quick smile pre-show!

Ok all of you. Own up! Who’s forwarded one of those Vodafone “txt 20 friends and recieve $50 credit” txts?

Come on! Tell us!! Now just stop and think about it….if you did forward 20 txts on, that would equal….20 txts sent (duh!), then 20 people would send 20 txts (400txts), then 400 people would send 20 txts (8000txts), and then 8000 people would send 20 txts (160,000txts)…..umm, you get the picture. Ok, let me ask you this, do you really think (and let us all think hard about this one) that Vodafone would then credit 160,000 people $50 on their cellular phones?? That’s (…50 times…..160……ah……carry the 2……) $8 million dollars for crying out loud! Do you really think that Vodafone would just give away $8mil because the population of Palmerston North all decided to start thrashing their network with txts!?

Yes, Vodafone are giving away free weekend txting untill the end of March 06, but that’s it. Check out the bottom paragraph on that page. It reads something like, ‘Oh hey remember to be sensible and don’t spam your mates. If you excessively use the Vodafone Free TXT weekends, it may result in the suspension of services.’ (quote from mr vodafone man)
